Digital Interventions to Reduce Alcohol Consumption Among indigenous Youth (Mexico)

Chiapas has the lowest income per capita of any Mexican state1 and the deprivation is particularly acute for indigenous youth, who can turn to alcohol and psychoactive drugs. School closures during the pandemic has made the situation worse.

Over the last ten years we have developed a successful intervention to address teenage pregnancy and forced marriage in these communities, and are now developing it to counter alcohol consumption and to enable it to work face-to-face and/or through WhatsApp, Zoom and TikTok.
