We are delighted to announce the launch of the “Step Up!” AstraZeneca Young Health Global Grants Programme. “Step Up!” provides grants of up to US $10,000 to develop health promotion ideas and projects to reduce risk behaviours in young people, such as smoking tobacco, misuse of alcohol, lack of physical exercise, and poor diet that can lead to non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Applications must be received by 14th September 2018.
The AstraZeneca Young Health Programme was set up in 2010 to improve the health of young people across the world, with a particular focus on disadvantaged communities and on combatting NCD risk behaviours. YHP country programmes tend to last for a number of years and often use well-established techniques, “Step Up!” is focused on innovation – trying new ideas and techniques over the period of just one year. All projects must be completed by the end of 2019.
Grants are available to organisations with a charitable purpose that have an innovative idea they would like to develop at larger scale that has a positive impact on the young people’s health. This requires proof of effectiveness and so working out exactly what you want to achieve and measuring it is important. We are keen to share the learning from the projects to encourage fresh thinking and activity more widely, and will publicise the selected projects on our website.
